Access & Location
Mikro Papigo is located 59 km northeast of Ioannina and together with Megalo Papigo - they are 2 km away - they are the two most famous settlements in Zagorochoria. Papigo is at a key point, adjacent to Albania's main gateway to Greece, while popular tourist destinations like Corfu, Lefkada, Meteora, Parga and Sivota are about 2 hours from the village. This has brought enormous added value to the wider area, so the settlement has increased traffic throughout the year.
Ioannina - one hour away from Papigo - operates an Airport, while Egnatia and the Ionian High terminate the two major motorways of Greece. As a result, access to Papigo is easy because Athens and its International Airport are around 4:30 hours, Thessaloniki and the International Airport 3:15, while the most important port for Greece's access to Europe, that of Igoumenitsa, is about 1:30 o'clock. Large motorways have facilitated access to the popular destinations and islands of Northwest Greece mentioned above, as well as to the airports of Preveza and Corfu respectively.
